In the Tarot deck, Temperance is card no. 14 in the Major Arcana, representing Sagittarius and symbolising Balance. The archetype exists within all of us and can be more or less visible in our lives at different times.
The Alchemist Shows the angel in the card The Lovers. The angel has red wings, a white robe and holds two golden cups. Between the cups that the angel (Gabriel) holds, water flows, but the water flows from the lower cup to the higher one, symbolising the control the angel has over matter. The angel stands with one foot in the water and the other on land, which also symbolizes balance. The card radiates great harmony, inner mastery and peace. The card speaks of a turnaround; the day is dawning in the background and two yellow iris flowers stand by the water. The angel is aligned, there are no internal blockages, you have direct manifestation, all chakras are open and flowing, you carry no baggage
Depending entirely on which tarot cards are drawn around the Alchemist, the card communicates differently.
The Temperance card carries a gift. Find the midpoint. You have come to a turning point where extremes are not your way anymore, at least not in the situation you are in now.
This tarot card comes up in my readings when you need to ‘go back to the drawing board’ and refocus. You need to go into yourself, tune in, find your own unique rhythm and start living life from it. If the card comes up in a love affair, you or the other person may have a more moderate and mature attitude towards you, or alternatively gained perspective that calmed the person down.
All cards have their gifts and they are here to help us become aware. We must become whole and free from inner conflicts. Not until we have accepted ourselves 100% have we mastered the lessons of life.
