In classic Rider Waite Smith tarot decks, this tarot card shows a queen on a throne with her sword drawn straight up. The sword is the Queen of Swords’ connection to God and speaks of her purity. She has a golden crown of butterflies and only one bird flies above her head; a symbol of her solitary nature, she leans on no one. Queen of Swords holds the other hand straight out as if to show the way, or give a final message. The stone throne has butterflies and an angel on it, symbols of Gemini. The woman is said to be a widow and she looks like a composed woman of great integrity, composed calm, centered wisdom and guidance. The clouds behind her tower up as if to say “you choose”. You can do this or that, but you have to face the consequences of everything you do. She is pure rationality. Her dress is white which represents her mental & spiritual hygiene and diplomatic nature. I personally see her as a Sphinx. She is a mediator and a counselor. She has a clean Aura. Her tears of loss opened her heart and infused a pathos few can match.
