In the Tarot deck, the Sun is card no. 19 in the Major Arcana, associated with the zodiac sign of Leo and symbolizes Life. The archetype exists within all of us and can be more or less visible in our lives at different times.
The card shows a naked baby with flowers in her hair riding a white horse. The baby carries a banner with a red flag (victory) in one hand and behind it the sun shines enormously big and strong. There is a stone wall with sunflowers behind the crew. Wall stands for support, foundation, security. Sunflowers symbolize abundance, joy and food. Now we are only two cards away from the last card in the Major Arcana and there is a lot of energy of the Fool in this card. This means that the journey has soon reached its completion. You have a completely open heart!
Depending entirely on which tarot cards are drawn around the Sun, the card communicates differently.
The sun carries a gift. You were perfect all along. You were never wrong. You never did wrong. Everything was just experiences that you long ago signed a contract to go through for the sake of your own development. There is nothing to forgive, you have only been a player in a game whose purpose is to bring us closer to the Source. So go through life without armour, with the hope, trust and optimism of a child and carry your banner high – because you are perfect just the way you are!
This tarot card comes up in my readings when you are completely ready for something. The locks are open and the light is green. The card also stands for having received information. Being ‘enlightened’ is a two-part concept. Partly it means having information / being learned, and partly that you have the high cosmic light in your body. So when the sun comes up, it means that you know something that you were not aware of recently, a little connected to the card before, the Moon.
All cards have their gifts and they are here to help us become aware. We must become whole and free from inner conflicts. Not until we have accepted ourselves 100% have we mastered the lessons of life.
