In the Tarot deck, the Star is card no. 17 in the Major Arcana, associated with Aquarius and symbolising Wishes fulfilled. The archetype exists within all of us and can be more or less visible in our lives at different times.
The card shows a naked blonde woman pouring water from two goblets. Above her is a large yellow star and seven small white stars which are her chakras. One of her feet rests on top of the water which is a symbol that she masters the water (emotions) in freedom and vulnerability. The card is a development of the card The Alchemist, where the angel has now transformed into the naked woman by the same water. The card comes after the Tower card. You have been through great trials and it has made you stronger! You are now “pure” enough to know your Northen star, your compass and you are in full contact with nature, the elements, the seasons. Ten small flowers grow around her, ten symbolize perfection. Behind her is a tree with an Ibis bird, an Egyptian symbol of wisdom, magical work and luck. And this is exactly what the Water Bearer embodies.
Depending entirely on which tarot cards are drawn around the Star, the card communicates differently.
The star carries a gift. When you get to the point where you are as pure and strong as the Star, you also get responsibility for others in parallel. You are now ready to give to others. Pour your cups of life-giving water and be a water-bearer.
This tarot card comes up in my readings when someone idealises someone or something – there is an ideal situation one wishes for. Even that you have grown so strong now that you don’t need to assert yourself, but you have lowered your guard and are in 100% acceptance with who you are, how you look, how you chose to live your life. Better health, better living conditions, fortunes turn, you can breathe out and recover.
All cards have their gifts and they are here to help us become aware. We must become whole and free from inner conflicts. Not until we have accepted ourselves 100% have we mastered the lessons of life.
