In the Tarot deck, the Empress is card no. 3 in the major arcana, ruled by Venus, associated with the zodiac sign of Taurus and symbolizes Matriarchy. The archetype exists within all of us and can be more or less visible in our lives at different times.
The card shows a woman of position surrounded by symbols of her wealth and influence. The Empress is pregnant, a symbol of life, fertility, opportunity, vitality, youthfulness. She has acquired fertile land, cattle, men and riches. She lacks nothing. She is Twinflame with the Emperor, they are a power couple.
She wears a tiara of 12 stars. It is she who is the 13th star, i.e. the divinely feminine, Princess Aurora or a “Starseed”. She is the potential, the puzzle piece that activates the other 12. She is an aspect of You. You are also the 13th star that has the power to activate. 13 is a sacred female number that has been distorted, hidden and slandered for millennia. Yeshua Malathiel of the house of David (the Vatican calls him “Jesus Christ” which wasn’t his name) did not have 12 disciples, but 13 with the most important of all, namely Mary Magdalene or her real name Miryam of the house of Magdaleana. The empress is an aspect of Mary Magdalene. But the power of the number 13 is now awakening; it is the love revolution we see today of free individuals creating from a state of flow, who does not follow the norm, the convention, the dogma, who breaks rules, breaks boundaries, rocks the boat and hugs trees.
Depending entirely on which tarot cards are drawn around the Empress, the card communicates differently.
The Empress carries a gift. She shows that in order to reach higher, our Root Chakra must be healthy first. The higher chakras are fed by the chakras before, so it all starts with the Root Chakra. The empress has land, cattle, men, food and riches. What do the riches look like in your life? Do you have a well-built material foundation? Not infrequently, “spiritual” people want to skip the Root Chakra to go directly to the Crown Chakra. Money is “ugly” and fashion is “superficial”. But a poorly nourished Root Chakra creates a domino effect of development problems. Everything must be integrated and the Empress shows that there is nothing ugly about this.
This tarot card often comes up in my readings when you have security within yourself, the foundation is in place and you are ready to grow (the soil is fertile for the seed). You have risen above victim mentality, smallness, fears. You no longer follow the shepherd but lead yourself. Perhaps you have to “give birth to a new project” or you have caring responsibilities for someone.
All cards have their gifts and they are here to help us become aware. We must become whole and free from inner conflicts. Not until we have accepted ourselves 100% have we mastered the lessons of life.
